Description	:	Son of Kenneth O. & Hattie (Landers) Bembry. He received his education at Crosbyton, Texas where he played football. On August 25, 1941 at the age of 17, Bill entered the US Marine Corps. He served during World War II and was honorably discharged on October 10, 1945 as a Corporal. Upon his discharge, Bill went to Long Beach, California where he worked in the oil fields. This is where he met Edythe Becher who would later become his wife. He received his education at Crosbyton, Texas where he played football. On August 25, 1941 at the age of 17, Bill entered the US Marine Corps. He served during World War II and was honorably discharged on October 10, 1945 as a Corporal. Upon his discharge, Bill went to Long Beach, California where he worked in the oil fields. This is where he met Edythe Becher who would later become his wife. From Long Beach, Bill went to work for his uncle in Oregon where he drove gas transports to the logging fields. He and Edythe were united in marriage on May 12, 1949 in Portland. They moved the family back to California where Bill went back to work in the oil fields. In 1955, Bill moved the family to Columbus, Nebraska where he went to work as a lineman for Cornhusker Public Power. After nearly 30 years with Cornhusker, Bill retired as a meter technician. Bill was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus where he served as an elder. In the late 1970's, Bill joined St. Luke's United Church of Christ where he helped with the church maintenance. He was a past Boy Scout leader for Troop 276 in Columbus, enjoyed gardening, hunting, and traveling. He especially enjoyed attending WW II Marine reunions. Bill was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW. Bill is survived by: Wife - Edythe Bembry of Columbus, NE Daughter - Karen Bembry, PhD. of Dallas, TX Daughter - Kelly (Lonell) Bembry-Hennings of Cheyenne, WY Daughter - Kathy (Tom) Bembry-Placzek of Columbus, NE Sister - Mary Kluehe of Walla Walla, WA Half Sister - Jackie Ann Strange of Crosbyton, TX Grandson - Dietric Hennings of Cheyenne, WY Grandson - Hans Hennings of Cheyenne, WY Granddaughter - Kaitlynn Placzek of Columbus, NE Bill was preceded in death by: Parents - Kenneth and Hattie Bembry Son - Kurtis Bembry on July 24, 2003
