Paulo deTarso Ribeiro officiating. Burial was in the L'Eau Qui Court Cemetery in Niobrara with militrary honors provided by American Legion post #224 and V.F.W. post #4834 of Niobrara. Visitation was held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Brockhaus Funeral Home in Niobrara. Mr. Meier died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD. William Lee Meier was born March 3, 1932 to John C. and Anna (Pavelka) Meier in rural Niobrara, Nebraska. He grew up in the Niobrara area attending country school district #144 and then graduating from Center High School in 1949. After graduation, he farmed and ranched with his father. He married Jacquelyn E. McDonald on June 16, 1954 in Niobrara. To this union were born seven children: David John, Lucinda Lee, Teresa Sue, Rose Marie, John Edward, Barbara Dorcas, and William Joseph. He farmed and ranched in the Niobrara area his entire life except for the years of 1955-1957 when he served in the United States Army, stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He did carpentry work in the Northeast Nebraska area for over 40 years. He enjoyed woodworking and made many diamond willow canes. He also loved spending his time gardening, hunting, fishing, visiting with his grandchildren, and especially spending time with his beloved dogs. He died April 25, 2007 at Avera Sacred Heart hospital in Yankton, South Dakota after a brief hospital stay. He is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn; sons: John Meier and wife Audrey of Pierce, NE; Dr. William J. Meier and wife Cathy of Columbus, NE; daughters: Lucinda Mastalir and husband Mitch of Verdigre, NE, Teresa Hartman and husband Joseph of Lesterville, SD, and Barb Braun and husband Brian of Ponca, NE; grandchildren: Brooke, Corby and Brady Mastalir of Verdigre; Abby and Nate Meier of Pierce; Miranda and Scott Braun of Ponca; and Ada, Hannah, and CarolineMeier of Columbus. A brother, Kenneth Meier and wife Donna of Niobrara; a sister Delores Pein of Glenwood, IA; nieces, nephews and many, many hunting friends from the Omaha and Lincoln area.
