Eberline Sr., son of Charles and Carrie Roberts Eberline was born January 30, 1920 at Kenesaw, NE, and passed away on May 30, 1999 at Thayer County Health Services, Hebron, NE, at the age of 79 years and 4 months. Eberline Sr., son of Charles and Carrie Roberts Eberline was born January 30, 1920 at Kenesaw, NE, and passed away on May 30, 1999 at Thayer County Health Services, Hebron, NE, at the age of 79 years and 4 months. William received his education in the public schools. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Moxham n June 4, 1943 and to this union three children were born, Judith, William L., Jr., and Joan. He taught journalism at Drake University for five years. He joined the Associated Press as an AP newsman based in Des Moines, IA, in 1946 and had a 39 year career until his retirement in 1985. During his 39 years with AP William saw life, death, and history in the making. William net, interviewed, and or attended press conferences with every U.S. president from Truman through Reagan. He also covered Nikita Kruschev when he came to the United States in 1957 and toured several sites in Iowa. William and his wife Elizabeth retired to her hometown of Chester, NE, in 1987. William was a member of the Press Club of Des Moines, IA, member of the Iowa State Bar Association, and Library of Congress. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Carrie Eberline; wife, Elizabeth, and one brother, Charles Eberline, Jr. He is survived by two daughters, Judith Marcus, Plano, TX, Joan Barry, Canoga Park, CA; one son, William L. Eberline, Jr., San Diego CA; four grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Jorgenson, Lincoln, NE, and Jeanette Lawson, Lincoln, other relatives and many friends. Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 8, two o'clock at the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, KS, conducted by Pastor Clark Struebing. Inurnment was made at the Chester Cemetery, Chester, NE. Chester Herald, unknown date
