McCord originator of "McCord's Colie Cure," died here yesterday evening. He was 70 years of age at his demise and a celebrated veterinarian. He was a Confederate States of America Veteran. It was transcribed by Bob Webb who is one of William and Frances (Davis) McCord's 2nd great grandsons through their daughter, Nancy Jane McCord who was first married to James Hale Bewley. *ANOTHER SOLDIER GONE. WILLIAM L. MCCORD, SOLDIER OF THE LOST CAUSE, HAS CROSSED THE RIVER* William L. McCord died at his home in this city, July 19, 1906, aged 77 years. When the war broke out he entered the cavalry service and remained at the front until the surrender at Appomattox. While he was subject to all the dangers of the camp and underwent all the perils of battle, yet a favoring Providence seemed to care for him in war as in peace. He came home sound to body and limb, and during all the succeeding years of peace he had good health until December 4, 1901, he was paralyzed. Since that affliction, he was almost helpless. In 1852 he married Miss Frances Davis. To them were born seven children of whom four are dead. The survivors are: Mrs. J. H. Bewley of Birmingham Ala., Mrs. W. B. Merriwether of Jonesboro, Ala., and Mr. J. F. McCord, of Pineville, KY. After the death of his first wife, he married Miss Lizzie Stevenson, and to them were born eight children, seven of whom survive, namely: Mr. W. G. McCord of Newberry, Messrs Ernest and Ealter of Union, S. C., Mr. Arch and misses Essie, Lizzie and Margaret, of this city. Mr. McCord was buried at Upper Long Cane Cemetery. The funeral services were performed by Rev. P. B. Wells.
