Georgetown UPI Authorities Sunday recovered the body of William L Sarvis 23 of Winyah bay where he had been missing since Dec. 23. The search for William S. Georgetown UPI Authorities Sunday recovered the body of William L Sarvis 23 of Winyah bay where he had been missing since Dec. 23. The search for William S. Jerrell 22 also of Georgetown was continuing. The search for the two was begun when officials discovered their 12 foot motorboat overturned in the waters of the bay. Authorities said they believe the body was found only minutes after if floated to the surface of the water. It was found in the general area where officials found a gas tank and a life jacket on Saturday. A Coast Guard Helicopter two private planes and numerous private motorboats were assisting local authorities and officials of the Wildlife Department in searching for the two. The funeral will be noon Monday at the graveside in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed by the Mayer Funeral Home. Mr Sarvis was born at Elgin AFB Fla July 19 1948 a son of William Leon Sarvis Sr and Mrs Jeanette Mary Essler Sarvis. He graduated from Winyah High School and served with the US Army in Germany. He was a millwright at Georgetown Steel Corp. Surviving are his widow Mrs Dianne Cannon Sarvis of Georgetown a son Richard Leon Sarvis of Georgetown his parents of Georgetown a brother James Allen Sarvis of Georgetown and a sister Margaret S. McCutcheon of Walterboro; his paternal grandfather William S. Sarvis of Georgetown; his maternal grandmother Mrs Joe Essler of Scotland Texas. (Courtesy of Patti Yourko Burns)
