On March 10th, 1874 he married Miss Lousetta J. Martin and soon after moved to Boone county, Ind, and after a short residence in Boone county they moved back to Montgomery county and in 1876 they removed to Miami county, Kanas, lived there 1 year then moved to his farm, north-east of Bronson. Thompson was born in Montgomery county, Ind., July 20th, 1850, where he lived until 1874. On March 10th, 1874 he married Miss Lousetta J. Martin and soon after moved to Boone county, Ind, and after a short residence in Boone county they moved back to Montgomery county and in 1876 they removed to Miami county, Kanas, lived there 1 year then moved to his farm, north-east of Bronson. He learned the blacksmith trade in 1875, which business he followed until a few months before his death. He has resided in Bronson for the past seventeen years. Mr. Thompson was an exemplary father and husband and was greatly attached to his family. He had been an industrious, hard working man all his life and has left enough to keep the widow and children in comfort. The disease that caused his death, a Cancerous tumor in his stomach, had troubled him for the past three years but it was not until about the first of this year that he was compelled to abandon his work. Mr. Thompson was first treated by Dr. Cummings of this place. He then went to Iola and was treated by Dr. Cox. From Iola he went to Kansas City hoping to be relieved by surgical operation but at each place his case was pronounced hopeless and he came home to die. After coming home he was treated by Dr. Howell, and while he probably prolonged life he could not cure him. He passed away at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 12. Several days before his death Mr. Thompson embraced the Christian religion and died realizing that he was leaving a life of pain for a better land. The deceased leaves a wife, one son, Clifford, and two daughters, Nettie and Bernice, and five brothers, D.P., A.F., J. E., B. C. of Jewell county and T. H., of Dry Ridge, to mourn the loss of a loved one. The funeral services were conducted by the K of P, A O U W and D of H lodges, of which he was an honored member. He carried $2000 insurance in the A O U W lodge and $1000 in the D of H, which will be equally divided between the surviving members of the family. The funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Sunday and the body was laid to rest in the Bronson cemetery, and Bronson mourns the loss of one of the oldest and most respected citizens.
