Services were today at Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sturdy officiating. Burial was in Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home in Nelson was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Meyer was born May 29, 1930, to Floyd and Alice Fae (Sheets) Meyer in Nelson. He graduated from Nelson High School in 1948. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. On Dec. 22, 1979, he married Helen (Beezley) Wehrman. He was a surveyor for the Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Co. Survivors are his wife; parents; one stepson, C.E. Wehrman III of Kenesaw; three stepdaughters, Jackie Davis of Kenesaw, Patricia Melroy of Winterset, Iowa, and Deborah Larson of Saint Edward; and three stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother. ===== William L. "Bill" Meyer, son of Floyd and Alice Fae (Sheets) Meyer, was born on May 29, 1930, at Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2001, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 17 days. "Bill" as he was known by family and friends attended Nelson Schools and graduated from Nelson High School in 1948. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He served in the United States Air Force in Korea and was honorably discharged. December 22, 1979, he married Helen (Beezley) Wehrman. Bill was a surveyor for the Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company. He enjoyed his step grandchildren and took a special interest in their activities. He also spent many hours at coffee with his buddies. Preceding him in death was one brother, Richard. Survivors include his wife, Helen; parents, Floyd and Fae Meyer of Nelson; one stepson, C.E. Wehrman III and his wife Peggy of Kenesaw; three stepdaughters, Jackie Davis of Kenesaw, Patricia Melroy and her husband John of Winterset, Iowa, and Deborah Larson and her husband Tom of Saint Edward; and three stepgrandchildren, Matthew Davis and Rose and Victoria Wehrman. Funeral services were Friday, October 19, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson with Rev. Dr. Ralph Sturdy officiating. The congregation sang "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and "There is a Wideness in God's Mercy" with Robert Bruce as organist. Interment was in Nelson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lindell Meyer, LeRoy Schott, Don McCartney, Kevin Pulver, Tom Larson and John Melroy. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of arrangements.
