They were the parents of 9 children: Mary, Clara, Wilhelmina, Joseph, Ann, and others. William was the night flagman with the Northwestern Railroad in Carroll, IA. July 16, 1914 - Carroll Sentinel - William Lordeman died at his home on South Crawford street, at 10:03 a.m. Friday, June (sic) 10, the cause of death being pneumonia. Mr. Lordaman had been in poor health for a long time before he was stricken with the disease that proved fatal. He was born in Westphalia, Germany February, 14, 1847 and therefore 67 years of age at the time of his death. He was a soldier in the great war between France and Germany in 1870 and 1871, serving in a Prussian regiment. He came to United States in 1873, settling in Roselle township of this county. He was married in 1879 to Miss Margaret Broich, who survives with five children. They are Mary, Mrs. Ed. Schmich, of Spirit Lake; Clara, Mrs. Ed. Winfield, of Laramie, Wyoming; and Anna, Mrs. Herbert Murphy, of the same place; Minnie, Mrs. Walter Gerber, of Rockwell City; Joseph Lordeman, of Carroll. The deceased has in recent years served as night flagman for the Northwestern road at the crossing on Main street. The funeral took place at SS. Peter and Paul's church, Monday morning and he was laid to rest in the cemetery of that parish. Contributed by DA Lordemann - Three brothers immigrated from Prussia between 1869 and about 1875.
