Read More	Obituary published in The Gaffney (SC) Ledger on Tuesday, December 18, 1923 (page 1) MASTOIDITIS CLAIMS LIFE OF FIFTEEN YEAR OLD BOY William Lowndes Sarratt, Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sarratt, Dies in City Hospital. ~ William Lowndes Sarratt, 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Ed Sarratt, who lived on the Chesnee road, three and one half miles from Gaffney, died in the City Hospital Friday, following an operation performed in an attempt to relieve an attack of mastoiditis. The fatal affliction developed only one week previous to his death. ~ The funeral service was conducted Sunday at noon at the Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. J. B. Bozeman, of Spartnaburg, who was completing his last day as pastor of the Providence Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery with P.S. Courtney, funeral director in charge. The pall bearers were: K.O. Huskey, Paul Huskey, H.C. Huskey, Roy Huskey, Bryan Huskey and Baxter Morgan. ~ The deceased is survived by his father and mother and the following three brothers and five sisters: Garland, Ibra, Edwin and Gladys, Geraldine, Sarah, Alice and Delia Frances. ~ William was a pupil in the Midway school, being in the eighth grade. His death cast a shadow of gloom over the school and over the community in which he lived.
