VI, p. 415, among the records of Hopewell MM, Frederick Co, VA, records the birthdate of William as 1854, 9, 11, among the children of William Lupton Sr. and Grace Pickering Lupton. A tree on RootsWeb/WorldConnect, alternatively, lists William's date of birth as 9 Nov 1754. Because of the discrepancy, only the year of birth is used on this memorial. VI, p. 417, among the records of Hopewell MM, Frederick Co, VA, records the granting of a certificate on 1803, 10, 3, for William Lupton & wife, Bathsheba, and children Lydia, Grace, Jonathan, Allen, Mary, Isaac, William, Davis, and Mahlon from Hopewell MM to Concord MM, OH. Concord MM subsequently [Hinshaw, vol. IV, p. 152] endorsed that certificate to Miami MM, Ohio. They were received in 1804 by Miami MM [Hinshaw, vol. V, p. 94.] William and Bathsheba Lupton were among the original members of Fairfield MM when it was set off from Miami MM in 1807 [Hinshaw, vol. V, p. 215]. William Lupton died at age 55 on 1811, 2, 8, and was buried at Fairfield MM [Fairfield Quaker Cemetery] [Hinshaw, vol. V, p. 260]. Bathsheba died at age 86 of 1847, 1, 22, and was also buried at Fairfield [Hinshaw, same page].
