He was a miller and farmer, owning lands near the Jesse James Billings place on the middle prong of Roaring River in the Dockery community. On the 1840 School Census he is listed with the following children: Amelia, Susan, Jesse, Addison and Wilburn. Jackson was listed with the family in the 1850 Census. Name unknown 3 Sally Childers born 1795 on April 8, 1831. He was a miller and farmer, owning lands near the Jesse James Billings place on the middle prong of Roaring River in the Dockery community. On the 1840 School Census he is listed with the following children: Amelia, Susan, Jesse, Addison and Wilburn. Jackson was listed with the family in the 1850 Census. William was buried at the Billings William/Polly Alexander Family Cemetery next to his Mother Polly Alexander. His 2nd wife and his 3rd wife Sarah "Sally" Childers are also buried there. Little is known about the first 2 girls. 1) Amelia born around 1822 and was living with her father in 1870 Census. Amalie did not marry. 2) Susan. She may have died at a young age. 3) Jesse James Billings, born Jan. 4, 1824, married on Jan. 17, 1851 Emily Elizabeth Buttrey, daughter of John Abraham Buttery and Sarah Barker. 4) Jackson T. Billings, born Feb. 1, 1830 the only child of William's 2nd marriage. Jackson married Margaret Clementine Porter, oldest child of Andrew Porter and Mary Cooper and sister of W.F. Porter. Margaret was born in 1832 and died June 7, 1907. They lived in the Mulberry section of Wilkes County where they had 12 children, 4 of whom were dead by 1907. They are believed buried in a family plot on Chestnut Mountain. 5) Addison Billings, first child of William M. Billings and Sarah Childers, was born around 1836. He married 1st on March 12, 1854, Susan Holbrook, and married 2nd Betsy Ann Blackburn. 6) William Wilburn Billings, born about 1836, married Catherine Holbrook, born 1835, daughter of Ezekiel Holbrook and Elizabeth Adams.
