Mr. Phillips was apparently as well as usual and was loading a car of coal when he suddenly fell. Death occurred almost immediately. Dr. B. B. Parker, coroner, was called and said the preliminary indications are that heart trouble was the cause of death. Mr. Phillips, who resided on West Garfield street, has been a loader at the Diamond mine for the past five years. He is well known here and his sudden death comes as a severe shock to many friends and relatives. The body was taken to the Beckner funeral home. Additional details are pending and will be announced later. ------------------------------------ Centerville Iowegian and Citizen--25 Feb 1941 ----------------------- Phillips Funeral Services Thurs. Funeral services for William Phillips, heart attack victim who died at the Diamond mine here yesterday afternoon, will be held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Paul Hicks in charge. Burial will be in the Numa cemetery. The body will be at Beckner's funeral home until time for services Thursday. --------------------
