Eden, 48, well known farmer living three miles north and two miles east of Cumberland, died unexpectedly at his home late Sunday afternoon. Death came as Mr. Eden was doing the chores. He had been in his usual good health all day and had eaten a hearty supper with members of his family. About 7:20, a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Turner of Cumberland, and another daughter, Miss Lucille Eden, were about to leave the farm for town when they saw his body lying in the farm yard. Coroner W. W. Kitson of Atlantic was called and pronounced the death due to an acute heart attack. It was believed he had been dead only a few minutes when found by his children. Mr. Eden was born in Cass county on December 27, 1890, the youngest of six children in the family of John and Johannes Eden. He grew up on a farm here and was married on February 11, 1915, to Margaret Higgen at the farm home where he was living at the time of his death. They went all of their married life in the county except five years spent in North Dakota. Surviving beside the widow are four children, Mrs. Mildren Turner of Cumberland and Leonard, Lucille, and Lois at home. The following brothers and sisters also following brothers and sisters also survive, Johannes Eden of Cumberland, Mrs. Kate Crum of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Anna Hopkins of Cumberland, Otto Eden of Wiota, and Fred Eden of Yuma, Colorado. Mr. Eden was a member of the Franklin township Lutheran church where funeral services will be held. The exact time of the rites has not been decided.
