Urbana - Jan 27, 1910 Word was received in this city yesterday of the death of William McCarty which occurred Tuesday afternoon. He was a veteran of the civil war being a member of Captain BF Gansons company in the 66th OVI. He was well known in this city, being a brother of Miss Barbara McCarty who has been making her home with Captain and Mrs George Leonard for the past 25 years. The cause of Mr McCartys death was tuberculosis, he having been a sufferer from that disease for several years. February 3, 1910 William, son of Jacob and Lidia McCarty, was born in Terre Haute, OH, March 7, 1838. He enlisted in Co B, 66th Reg OVI. He married Lydia Faharty, May 9, 1875. To this union was born three children, John, Owen and Anna. He died January 25, 1910, the age of 71 years, 10 months, 18 days. Funeral services conducted by Rev Griffith of Springfield. Interment in Honey Creek Cemetery.
