Description	:	William McClellan Gilbert was a farmer of Irish descent from Greene County, Pennsylvania who moved to Miami County, Ohio where he met his wife Sarah Delila Dye of the fame Alexander Dye family. They had 9 children. 2 died in infancy. 7 boys lived and 1 daughter. William was part of the Grand Army of the Republic where he fought as a foot soldier for the Indiana 89th Infantry, Company E out of Camp Morton for 3 years. He survived multiple battles then returned to farming where his family moved to Nebraska in the 1880s.
