McManamy), below Mary "Polly" Bell, 27 Jan 1805 (Wm Edmondson), below Samuel, died young James Bell, 19 May 1810 (Rachel H McClure), below Samuel, 20 Sep 1812 (Sarah R Weddington), below Isabella Patrick, William Charles, 1819 Using the dates, 10 May 1773 to 18 Sep 1846, it works out to 73 years, 4 months and 8 days. It appears to be the same as the age still visible on his gravestone in Iowa, which matches his wife's. George West Diehl erroneously wrote an undated article in the Lexington, VA paper, The News-Gazette called "The North Mountain Cemetery" Chapter III (Conclusion). It stated Capt. Samuel McCutchen's son William, was a 1st Sgt. Instead it was another local Samuel McCutchen, with son William "Elder Billy" Youel McCutchan, born in 1758. The article is posted on his Findagrave page. He may be included in the "McCutchan family Bible record, 1758-1892" on microfilm in Richmond. The originals are in the Special Collections, Harrison/Small Library, P.O. Box 400110, in Charlottesville. His marker is not very legible from the photo.
