M’ELROY (sic) OLD SETTLER PASSES AWAY NEAR CLARE Deceased Had Lived In Jackson Township Since 1870—Leaves Family of Six Children. The funeral of the late William McElroy, who died at his home near Clare Tuesday morning, will take place tomorrow from St. Mathias' (sic) church at Clare. Interment will be in St. James' cemetery. The deceased was an old and highly respected resident of Jackson township. Death was due to heart failure and dropsy, from which he was a sufferer during the last six years of his life. During the past year, however, he had been enjoying fairly good health and it was only two weeks ago that his condition became serious. William McElroy was born in Tipprary (sic) county, Ireland, April 2, 1837, and when eleven years old moved with his parents to the United States, settling near Dubuque, where in 1866 he was married to Mary White. In 1869, he moved to Fort Dodge and the following year to Jackson township, where he resided until his death. He is survived by five sons and one daughter. They are Edward, of Lohrville, Keyron (sic), of Ayrshire; and Fred, James, William and Lulu, who live on the homestead near Clare. He also has a brother living in St. Paul and a sister in Dubuque county. Transcribed by Leta Koll
