He received his education and grew to manhood at Huntley, Nebraska, where he united with the Methodist church. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows lodge, having received his 29-year membership pin two years ago. On February 14, 1917, he was united in marriage to Doris Winifred Turley of Huntley, and to this union a daughter, Beatrice, was born, who died in infancy, after which a baby girl, LaVonne was adopted. Bill, as he was known to his many friends, was engaged in farming near Huntley until 1926 when he and his family moved to Burlington, Colorado where he entered the grocery business. His wife, Doris, preceded him in death on March 17, 1937. On June 12, 1938, he was united in marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Jorgensen of Flager, Colorado. After his retirement from business they divided their time between Burlington and Flager. Having been in failing health for several months and after going through a clinic, Bill entered the St. Lukes hospital at Denver on June 18, 1949, where he passed away on July 26, 1949, at the age of 57 years, 5 months and 27 days. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Sarah, a daughter and son in-law, Marvel LaVonne and Bob Bauer, four grand children, Bobby, Barbara, Sarah and Billy, four sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Barnes, Greenville. Calif.; Mrs. Lydia Vilott and Mrs. Leola Peck of Lincoln, Nebr., and Mrs. Pauline Wilson of Burlington, Colo., two brothers, Charley of Long Beach Calif., and Rudolph of Stamford, Nebr., other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at Burlington on Thursday and the remains brought back to Huntley where services were held at the Methodist church on Friday and burial was made In the Bain bridge cemetery. Pallbearers were Walter Skiles, Bill Medinger, Fred Holmes, Harry Richman, Marshall Richman and Lawrnce McConnell.
