Description	:	William "Bill" Michael O'Dell, 70, of 138 S. Webster St., passed away at 5:05pm Sept. 17, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. He was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Ottumwa to James and Josephine Lawson O'Dell. He married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie "Marge" Lucille Renfrew on Aug. 8, 1958. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1958, he played Babe Ruth Baseball, OHS football and basketball and threw shot put on the track team. He worked at Comfort Furniture Factory, John Morrell & Co., Martin Machine & Electric, he owned O'Dell Bait & Archery Tackle and worked at Cedar Creek Archery. He was a great archery fanatic, winning many archery tournaments including state tournaments. He loved and admired the outdoors and wildlife. He raised and showed Fancy Fantail Show Pigeons throughout the United States. He enjoyed playing the harmonica. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Steven Ray(Teresa)O'Dell of Bloomfield, Gary Alan(JoAnn)O'Dell of Estes Park, Colo., Glen James(Jodi)O'Dell of Ottumwa; two daughters, Lori Jo(Dennis)Jones of Grove, Okla., and Aschere LeAnn(Cecil)Hime of Ottumwa; 13 grandchildren, Corey(Courtney)O'Dell, Kylie, James and Joshua O'Dell, Amanda(Rasoul)Daoud, Abigail O'Dell, Justin (Racheal)Pfaff, Jessica Pfaff, Josie O'Dell, Linna(Dave)Matthews, Ryan O'Dell, Talon and Taryn Hime; six stepgrandchildren, Travis(Sara)Peel, Derrick Hewett, Jeremy Hewett, Jake Jones, Nickie and Tyrell Hime; six great-grandchildren, Luxy, Megan, Nicole, Caden, Jeffrey and Trae; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Madilyn, Mattie Grace, Aliya and Lonna; a brother, John(Edna)O'Dell of Cary, N.C.; his aunt, Goldie O'Dell of Ottumwa and his best buddy, Peka, his dog. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Barks; and a grandson, Jeffrey James O'Dell. Funeral services will be 10am Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cory O'Dell, James O'Dell, Justin Pfaff, Travis Peel, Dave Matthews and Ryan O'Dell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Jones and Troy DeWitt. Visitation will begin at 11am Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 6-8pm. Memorials may be made to OHS Softball in care of Frank Huston.
