Description	:	William Monroe "Monnie" Martin, 78, of 14708 Bottom Road, died Sunday, July 31, at his home. Born in Williamsport Oct. 29, 1915, he was the son of the late David Emmitt and Anna Marie Weller Martin. He was a lineman at Potomac Edison for 21 years, and also the town electrician in Williamsport for 19 years, retiring in 1977. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during World War II. Read More	William Monroe "Monnie" Martin, 78, of 14708 Bottom Road, died Sunday, July 31, at his home. Born in Williamsport Oct. 29, 1915, he was the son of the late David Emmitt and Anna Marie Weller Martin. He was a lineman at Potomac Edison for 21 years, and also the town electrician in Williamsport for 19 years, retiring in 1977. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Williamsport. He was a member of the Improved Order of Redmen, Tribe No. 84, Williamsport; Potomac Post No. 202, American Legion, Williamsport, and an avid baseball and softball player in his early years. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edna Irene Lewis Martin; four daughters, Dorothy M. Kaetzel of Williamsport, Beverly A. Kriner of Big Springs, Cynthia K. Nine of Spokane, Wash., and Lisa C. Pollard of Ijamsvile, Pa.; two sons, Robert M. Martin of Hagerstown and William L. Martin of Martinsburg, W. Va.; one sister, Lena Rider of Hagerstown; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Addie Suffecool; and three brothers, Elmer Martin, Emmitt Martin and Edgar Martin. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Williamsport, with the Rev. Alfred E. Smith celebrant. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport. The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, today from 7 to 9 p.m. A Catholic prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Daily Mail, Hagerstown, Md.-date of paper: August 2, 1994
