About ten days ago he was taken with a slight pain in his left side, and this afterwards developed into peritonitis, and an operation was performed by Drs. Joyce of this place and Lindsay of Manchester. The wonderful physique of Mr. Moran gave his family and friends every hope, but a change came for the worse, and to the anxious friends it was evident that the end was near. Father Murtagh was with him to the last, and the sufferer was fortified with the sacraments of the Catholic church. The bereaved family have the consolation of knowing life ended by an extremely happy death. He was born in Chester County, Penn., in 1860, leaving him 43 years old. At the age of 16 he, with his parents moved to Darlington, Wis., and then to Worthington, this state, where he began the practice of a blacksmith which trade he followed up to his last illness. In 1886 he was married to Miss Maggie Kehoe of that place, who, with six children survive him. Their names are as follows; Patrick, John, Edward, Francis, Anna and Bernedine. The oldest is 13 and the youngest three. Mr. Moran was a devout Catholic, a member of the Woodman society, a loving husband, an affectionate father, a kind neighbor , and in every sense of the word. He will be readily missed by his friends, but to his family he is a loss that can never be replaced. Mrs. Moran and family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement. The funeral was one of the largest ever seen in Delaware county. The churches of the other denominations dispensed with their Sunday services in order that they might join with their Catholic friends in paying their last sad respects to a most worthy citizen. The name of Will Moran will long be cherished, as he was a perfect man; a model that the multitude will do well to pattern by. Manchester Democrat, Manchester, Iowa May 27, 1903.
