Description	:	The funeral for William Morris Westley, 80, Jamestown, was held October 9 in Voorhees Chapel at Jamestown College. The former Jamestown College dean and mayor of Jamestown, died Tuesday, October 6. Mr. Westley was born January 4, 1901 at Hannaford. He graduated from Jamestown College in 1922 and received a Master's degree from the University of Minnesota in 1935. He did graduate work at the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks, George Washington University at Washington, D.D., and the University of Chicago. The former Jamestown College dean and mayor of Jamestown, died Tuesday, October 6. Mr. Westley was born January 4, 1901 at Hannaford. He graduated from Jamestown College in 1922 and received a Master's degree from the University of Minnesota in 1935. He did graduate work at the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks, George Washington University at Washington, D.D., and the University of Chicago. He was admitted to the North Dakota State Bar in 1922. He practiced law at Cooperstown. Mr. Westley was superintendent of schools at McClusky, N.D. and Sacred Heart, Minn. He came to Jamestown in 1943 where he was professor of history and political science, registrar, and acting dean at Jamestown College. In 1966 he accepted a two-year appointment as chief educational adviser in the Philippine Island. He was dean of Jamestown College from 1968 to 1969. He retired in 1971 and was named professor emeritus. He served as mayor of Jamestown from 1958 to 1966. In 1972 the main floor lounge of Jamestown College was named Westley Common Room. He was inducted into the Jamestown College Hall of Fame in 1977. He married Dorothy Glee Tripp in 1931. She died in 1973. He married Irene Langemo August 22, 1974 at Jamestown. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. James (Catherine) Roberts, Paris, France; Mrs. Hames (Dorothy) Harden, Arvada, Colo., and Mrs. Joel (Marion) Kvanne, Moundview, Minn.; a stepson, Lawrence Langemo, Dickinson; two brothers and two sisters, Oscar, Sarasota, Fla.; Harry, Kalispell, Mont.; and Mrs. Jeanette Flesjer and Mrs. Myrtle Jean Zapp, both Denver; and 11 grandchildren.
