Mr. Morrow was taken ill about weeks ago, when an old gun-shot wound on his arm, received during the civil war, broke open. Soon after he took to his bed, the bone in the arm broke in two, and, while amputation was necessary, this deferred owing to the patient's weakened condition. The patient gradually grew worse and during the last few days of his life he suffered greatly. When the final summons came this morning there were present at his bedside his wife and five of his children, namely; Andy, Joseph, Bert, Milton and Mrs. Effie Banning of Newhawka. In the death of Mr. Morrow the ranks of the Grand Army of the Republic loses another old comrade who served his country so faithfully and gallantly during the stirring time of the civil war. The deceased was born in Jackson County, Ohio, September 27, 1889; moved to Page county, Iowa, in the spring of '57. Two years later he moved to Mills County, Iowa. At the age of twenty-two he enlisted in the Fifteenth Iowa regiment, serving for three years. The wound which caused his death was received on July 22, 1864, in the famous battle of Atlanta. He was also a member of a company, which acted as a body guard to General Sherman at the battle of Shiloh, and took an active part in several other noted conflicts. After returning home from the war, he was married to Miss Artie M. Shaw on March 17, 1867. In 1880 the family moved to Cass County, locating near Murray, but in late years they have resided in Plattsmouth. Besides a farm in the vicinity of Murray, Mr. Morrow owned some property in this city. He leaves a widow and five grown children to mourn his death. It can be said that Mr. Morrow was one of those genial, good-natured men who seemed always to regard the bright side of life, and his kindly disposition made many friends for him during his long residence in Cass County. The funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian Church at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, conducted by Rev. Baird, after which the remains will be taken to Eight Mile Grove cemetery for burial. Note: His remains were later moved to Seward.
