Description	:	WILLIAM MORT DIES AT 106 William Mort, son of Conrad and Sarah Mort, was born on a farm near Pittsburg, June 1, 1845, and died June 9, 1951 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edna Wilson in Cantril at the age of 106 years and nine days. On July 4, 1870 he was united in marriage with Elsie Pike, who preceded him in death in 1884. To this union were born two children, Elmer Mort and Mrs. Floy Kerr. Read More	WILLIAM MORT DIES AT 106 William Mort, son of Conrad and Sarah Mort, was born on a farm near Pittsburg, June 1, 1845, and died June 9, 1951 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edna Wilson in Cantril at the age of 106 years and nine days. On July 4, 1870 he was united in marriage with Elsie Pike, who preceded him in death in 1884. To this union were born two children, Elmer Mort and Mrs. Floy Kerr. In 1886 he was married to Sarah Peacock, who died in 1933. To this union were born three children. On son Carl and a daughter, Mable Burchett, both preceding him in death, and Edna Wilson of Cantril with whom he made his home. Mr. Mort spent his entire life in Van Buren county with the exception of 14 years in Page county in the western part of the state. He was one of a family of eight children, having six brothers and one sister all of whom have preceded him in death. He joined the Methodist church when a young man. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edna Wilson of Cantril, nine grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon in the Lebanon church, with the Rev. John Darlington officiating. Burial was at Pittsburg cemetery. Source: Van Buren Co.
