At the home of his brother, J.E. Allen, at Arnold's Park, August 30, 1905, William Nelson Allen, aged 54 years. The disease from which he suffered for a long time was cancer of the liver. The very best medical aid was sought but it was all powerless to arrest the progress of the disease. Mr. Allen was born in Jersey, Ohio, in 1851. When a child of three years he came with his parents to Monticello, Iowa, where he resided until 1880, when he settled in Cherokee, Iowa. From 1873 he followed the occupation of mining. He prospected through the Coeur D' Alene mountains in Idaho, the Caribou range in British Columbia and along the Kootenai River. In his chosen line of work he showed strong qualities of character, endurance, courage and hardihood. He was never married. After the disease fastened itself upon him he spent some time in the hospital at Cransbrook, B.C., and during July and August he was at the hospital at Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr Allen is survived by three brothers, Lucius, of Holstine, Iowa, Woodard P. and J.E. (John Ervin Allen) of Arnold's Park, and one sister, Mrs. Emily McMart, of Assiniboia, Canada. The funeral services took place at the residence of J.E. Allen, at Arnold's Park, last Thursday afternoon at two o'olock and were conducted by Rev. J.H. Olmstead, pastor of the Congregational Church at Milford. The interment was in Okoboji Cemetery. --------
