Mr. Neidig came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Neidig, to Madison in 1869, leaving here in 1884 to go to Akron, Colo. Mr. Neidig's father was the proprietor of the first general store in Madison, the building being located near where the Burris Drug Store now stands. William Nicholas Neidig was born at Kankakee, Ill., on February 22, 1864, having reached the age of 71 years, 1 month, and 3 days at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Rosina Kroneck on April 27, 1902. Five children were born to this union, one girl having died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Christina VanDyke and Mrs. Nina Brewer, two sons, William, Jr. and Theodore, and one brother, Samuel , all of whom are living near St. Francis. Mr. Neidig had not been in the best of health for a year but his departure was unexpected. Death was caused by pneumonia. Mr. Neidig was a cousin of Ed and Henry Neidig, farmers living north of Madison, and Mrs. U. D. Mathews and Mrs. Frank White of Madison.
