Description	:	William O. Dean, 79, died Monday morning at his home in Windfall, his death due chiefly to his advanced years. Complete funeral arrangements were not available Monday morning, but it is understood that the burial will take place Wednesday. Mr. Dean was a native of Indiana, being born in Gibson county, October 14, 1843. He was the eldest child born to Mr. and Mrs. James Dean. When W. O. Dean, 79, died Monday morning at his home in Windfall, his death due chiefly to his advanced years. Complete funeral arrangements were not available Monday morning, but it is understood that the burial will take place Wednesday. Mr. Dean was a native of Indiana, being born in Gibson county, October 14, 1843. He was the eldest child born to Mr. and Mrs. James Dean. When W. O. Dean was four, his parents moved to Howard county, and Mr. Dean grew to manhood in that county. He enlisted in the military in February, 1864, being in the cavalry. He was injured at the battle of Huntsville. He was sent to the hospital where he remained until March 1865, when he was given an honorable discharge. He returned to his home in Howard county and followed farming until 1871, a portion of this time being devoted to carrying government mail on a star route. His route was from West Liberty to Kokomo. Mr. Dean was employed in the stave business for a number of years, studying law at his leisure time. He removed to Windfall in 1874 and studied law there for a year. He was then admitted to practice in the Tipton county courts, opening his office in Windfall, which office he maintained until a few years ago. August 27, 1865, Mr. Dean was united in marriage to Miss Mahala Curless, daughter of Samuel H. Curless. The wife died some months ago. Two children, Wilbur and Omer Dean, of Windfall, survive.
