Read More	William Ollie "Bud" Kelley Leavenworth, WA William Ollie "Bud" Kelley, 80, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 4, 2011, at Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth. Bud was born in Peshastin, March 27, 1931, to William O. "Ollie" and Mabel LaBare Kelley and spent his childhood on the family ranch on Nibbelink Road. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1950, and joined the U.S. Air Force, where he became a B-29 mechanic and was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO. While in the Air Force, he proudly served as Honor Guard for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He married his high school sweetheart, Louise Moore, on New Year's Eve 1951, and they returned to Denver, where he finished his military service before returning to Leavenworth, where they made their family home. Bud went to work building logging roads for Schmitten Lumber Company and rose to the position of Road Construction Supervisor after the merger with W-I Forest Products. Bud was a champion basketball player and played center for the Peshastin Lumberjacks in the Valley League and for many years, he held the scoring record of over 50 points in a single game. He and Louise were very active in many civic activities and groups, including LIFE-Leavenworth Improvement for Everyone, JayCees and Amberleaf Theater, where he acted, sang and danced in many annual productions. He may also be remembered as the seven foot tall Smokey the Bear in many Autumn Leaf Festival parades. He trained as an EMT and served for over 25 years on the Leavenworth Volunteer Fire Department, rising to the position of Fire Chief. As an EMT and Fireman, he was involved in many heroic rescues and personally saved two lives. In 1982, he went to work as road construction supervisor for Klukwan, Inc., an Alaska logging company and he and Louise made their home on Long Island near Ketchikan, until his retirement in 1995, when they returned to their home in Leavenworth and enjoyed their retirement for a short time until Louise's death in 1997. Bud remained in Leavenworth and spent much of his time with his children and grandchildren and more recently, with his special lady friend, Imojean Martensen and her family. He was an avid sport fisherman, hunter and talented carpenter and builder and always enjoyed being involved in family building projects. He was loved by a very large family, including sisters, Nita West, Frankie Pulse Brender and Betty West, all of Leavenworth, and Peggy Wilsey of Wenatchee, all of whom had children and grandchildren who adored their "Uncle Bud." Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; his parents, Ollie and Mabel Kelley; and his older sister, Nita West. He is survived by his children: daughter, Cheri Kelley Farivar, husband, Farzan and two grandsons, Simon and Ollie Farivar; his daughter, Cindy Kelley Warman, two sons, Zachary (Deanna) and Seth, and daughter, Karlyn Lynn (Sean); his son, Kyle Kelley and wife, Angela and two daughters, Lindsey Williams (Matt) and Audre'; and his daughter, Lisa Kelley Easterly and husband, David and two sons, Luke (Lori) and Jacob (Kelsey). It was also his great joy to have seen the birth of seven greatgrandchildren. Bud also had a very close relationship with Imojean's three children, Doug and Edna Martensen and their three children, Josh, Brianna and Santana, Rhonda and John Betz and their two sons, Rand and Chase Stevens and daughter, Sydni Betz, and Vicki and Tim Traynor and their two daughters, Bailey and Taylor, all of whom called him "Papa Bud." Bud Kelley was a joyful presence in his community and he was beloved by his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A Funeral Service of Commemoration to Celebrate the Life of William O. "Bud" Kelley will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene, 111 Ski Hill Drive, with Concluding Service and Interment at the Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at Ward's Funeral Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cascade Medical Center Foundation, 817 Commercial Street, Leavenworth, WA 98826. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
