Buchanan, 75 years old, died at his home in Pennsylvania avenue, Irwin, at 4 o'clock Friday morning after a seven weeks' illness following a heart attack. Born in Dixonsville, Indiana county, the son of the late William L. and Mary Widdowson Buchanan, he was engaged in the mercantile business in Johnstown and Larimer before establishing grocery and shoe stores in Irwin. He became general manager of the Jersey Cereal Co. in 1923 and served seven years as a secretary of the Equitable Building and Loan Association of Irwin. He was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Irwin, of which he was clerk for 38 years, a member of the senior deacons board for 45 years, and a teacher of a Bible class for 35 years. Active in community affairs, he was a charter member and past president of the Irwin Kiwanis Club and a member of the Irwin Country Club. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Kimple Buchanan, and these children: Mrs. A. J. Lowry, of Wilkinsburg; William K. Buchanan,Sensenich, of Irwin. The following of Burbank, Calif., and Mrs. Boyd grandchildren also survive; Anita L. Buchanan, of Berkley, Calif.; Clifford B. Kaylor, of Irwin, and Boyd, David B., and Gladys R. Sensenich, all of Irwin. Friends will be received at the Snyder Chapel, 521 Main street, Irwin, until 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, when funeral services will be conducted there by Rev. Dr. H. G. Hoffman. Interment will be in the Irwin Union cemetery.
