Description	:	Bill Deuell, 95, joined his wife, Bess, in their heavenly home Wednesday, June 8. He was preceded in death by Bess, his parents, Oscar and Frances Deuell, a stepson Bobby, and a brother, Ernest. Bill is survived by a daughter, Juanita Alvis, and a son, William Deuell, and his wife, Jenny, and his sister, Cora Riendeau. His large family includes seven grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and many great and great great grands. He was preceded in death by Bess, his parents, Oscar and Frances Deuell, a stepson Bobby, and a brother, Ernest. Bill is survived by a daughter, Juanita Alvis, and a son, William Deuell, and his wife, Jenny, and his sister, Cora Riendeau. His large family includes seven grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and many great and great great grands. Born April 29, 1921, in Norfolk, VA, Bill joined the US Navy in 1944 and received his boot camp training at Camp Perry, basic engineering at Gulfport, Miss, and completed training at San Diego, CA. As a Fireman 1C, Bill served with the amphibious forces in the Pacific on the USS Cresent City. In Okinawa, he was injured in the line of duty and was evacuated to Pearl Harbor for treatment before being transferred to the US Naval hospital in Bainbridge, MD. Bill owned and operated Deuell Decorating Company. After accepting Christ as his savior in July 1948, Bill was active in several churches on the Peninsula. As a member of Liberty Baptist Church for 32 years, he served on the Finance and Building committees. Funeral June 13,2016 at the Peninsula Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
