Description	:	William P. McWilliams died April 6, 2004 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born October 23, 1909 in Alton, Iowa to Patrick O. and Clara Kass McWilliams. He married Iva Miller on June 12, 1933 in Cherokee, Iowa. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1998. He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1927. He was born October 23, 1909 in Alton, Iowa to Patrick O. and Clara Kass McWilliams. He married Iva Miller on June 12, 1933 in Cherokee, Iowa. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1998. He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1927. He graduated from the Creighton School of Pharmacy in Des Moines, Iowa in 1934. He owned and operated drug stores with his father and brothers in Hawarden. Dennison. Cherokee and Ottumwa. He moved to Ottumwa in 1952 where he was founder and owner of McWilliams Drug Store. His brother, Milo McWilliams joined him in the Ottumwa store in 1954. He was recognized for being one of Iowa’s Registered Pharmacists for 50 years. McWilliams Drugstore was sold to Jim Bevan and Jerry Yetley in 1974 but he continued to work as a pharmacist at that store until 1983. McWilliams Drugstore was sold to Drugtown in 1995. He is survived by Virginia (Gene) Gardner, Mike McWilliams and Jane (Frank) Carr all of Ottumwa and Jean (Mike) Couch of Palo Alto, California; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Milo McWilliams, who just recently moved from Ottumwa to Hastings. Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva McWilliams; his parents; two brothers, Harold McWilliams and Patrick McWilliams; and a sister. Virginia Van Lent. Memorial services will be Monday, April 19th at 4 PM at the Shrine of Memories.
