Read More	Old Citizen Of Taintor Passes Away ---------- William Parker Robertson, son of William Riley and Elizabeth J. Robertson, was born Sept. 2, 1850 in Ind., and passed away at his home in Taintor, Ia., Feb. 10, 1930, aged 79 years, 5 months and 9 days. As a child of 6 years he came to Iowa with his parents and settled one-half mile north of Taintor on what is now the Chas. Linsted farm, and during the remainder of his life he lived within a radius of 7 miles of this, his first home in Iowa. On February 23, 1871, he was united in marriage to Sarah E. Knox. To this union were born nine children, Wesley of Taintor, Charles, deceased, Lewis, deceased, William R. of Barnes City, Iowa, Mrs. Ida Nicholson of New Sharon, Iowa, John H. of Hubbard, Iowa, Mrs. Gertrude Kuntz of New Sharon, Ia., Mrs. Blanch Dimit of Taintor and Harley C. of Searsboro, Iowa. The true and staunch helpmate of more than 50 years of wedded life preceded him into the great beyond on March 23rd, 1922. He was again united in marriage to Mrs. Margaret J. Jones of Lynnville, Iowa, June 28, 1923, who, together with the children and a host of friends and relatives, are left to mourn his passing. At the age of about 40 years his conversion took place which he has since steadfastly upheld, walking in the light as it was revealed to him and bowing to no creed or denomination, though belonging to the Society of Friends, but only to the recognized master of us all. Though it was his own earnest request that no extensive flowery obituary of him should be written, we feel it would be an injustice to him not to mention the hundreds of funeral sermons he preached, bringing comfort to those whose loved ones journeyed into the shadowy valley, and the many whom he visited on their sick beds bringing them good cheer and encouragement. As for us, his friends and neighbors, who were intimately acquainted with and understood him we knew that behind a sometimes, seemingly brusque exterior were hidden the broader thoughts, the higher aspirations and the tender charities toward men and now, as we come to bid him goodbye and conduct him to his last resting place it is with a feeling of profound sorrow that we bow to the dictates of the great dictator - "Whose secret presence, through creation's veins, Running quicksilver like, eludes our pains." Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock at the Friends Church in Lynnville, conducted by Rev. Geo. Evans of the New Sharon Friends Church, assisted by Rev. L. Willard Reynolds of Lynnville, Rev. Martin Thornton of Sugar Creek and Rev. Robt. Lincoln of Grinnell. Music by a quartette from Lynnville. Burial was made at the Stewart Cemetery.
