Read More	WILLIAM “PAUL” MADGE, of Milk River, beloved husband of the late Nola Madge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the age of 90 years. Obit published in The Lethbridge Herald September 22, 2016 Paul was born the 17th of June, 1926. He was born in the old lumber yard house on Main St. The Roberts Hotel now occupies that spot. He spent his whole life in Milk River, helping his father in the shop, going to school and making a living. On the first day of July, 1945, the day after I got out of grade 12, my father Martin Madge sold me the Motor Inn; the garage that he had operated since 1923. This was a natural step for Paul as he had always enjoyed being at the shop-helping and learning all about the business from his father. When Paul turned 21, the International Harvester contract was transferred to him. 1952 was the year Paul's flying career began age 26, and he enjoyed flying until he was to old to keep his license. A Piper Cub was his first airplane and he used it to make farm calls, sell machinery, deliver parts and to take out a mechanic or anything else that was needed on the farms. One winter Paul delivered groceries and mail to snowbound people. Paul flew 'Santa' into town from the North Pole many times. He landed in a field north of town(where there are now many houses) and taxied up Main Street. When Paul was 27 he was elected to the Town Council and the Councilors chose him to be Mayor, a position he held for 2 years. Paul and Aime Croteau made a contract with the town to install natural gas. They bought gas from Montana and operated the Milk River Gas Co. In 1972 they sold it to Canadian Natural Gas. Paul married Nola daughter of Charles and Ireta Matkin of Magrath in November of 1956. In 1960 Paul changed the name from the Motor Inn to Madge Equipment Ltd. In 1975 Paul sold the business to two nephews Roy Hummel and Dale Baldwin, they changed the name to Roydale International Limited. In 1976 Paul was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Alberta Agricultural Development Corporation and served until late 1987. Nola became ill and Paul took care of her until she passed. Paul was an avid fisherman and hunter, a dedicated collector- Cars, license plates and toppers for license plates from all the National Parks. He was a social butterfly and insistent dancer, lover of the outdoors and commited friend. He lived a full and productive life and made many lasting contributions to the people and the town of Milk River.

Paul, you will be missed, you were my brother Bob Atkinson's school buddy and your mother Edna was my Mother's first grade teacher in the 215 school. You led a colorful and full life. May You Rest In Peace. Your cousin, Robert Austin.
