Description	:	William was almost certainly named after his uncle William Preston Taylor. We do not know the orgins of the middle name of Preston - possibly Preston Co, VA? There are few records of William including the 1860 and 1880 census, his marriage to Mary in Jay Co, IN in 1874 and his death in 1892. I assume he was in Jay County 1870 (he is not the William Taylor in Cass Co, IN in 1870). He and Mary must have arrived in Kansas about 1876 based on the birth states of their two oldest sons. I assume he was in Jay County 1870 (he is not the William Taylor in Cass Co, IN in 1870). He and Mary must have arrived in Kansas about 1876 based on the birth states of their two oldest sons. Since Mary was dead by 1897 the younger kids were raised by their PHILLIPS grandparents.
