He came to Omaha 22 years ago from David City, Neb., had worked 17 years with the firm before his retirement. He was born and raised in Ohio. Survivors: Two brothers, Jerry and James, Bloomington, Ill. The body will lie in state at the residence until Sunday, when it will be sent to David City, Neb., for services Monday, 9 a.m., St. Francis church. Burial, David City cemetery, John Gentleman in charge. ________________ Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), May 5, 1938, p. 1, col. 4 SERVICES ON MONDAY FUNERAL OF WILLIAM QUAID Former Resident of Center Township Passed Away Friday. Funeral services for William Quaid, brother-in-law of John Fox and a former resident in Center township, who passed away at his home in Omaha, shortly after noon Friday, April 29, from double pneumonia, were held at St. Francis Catholic church in Center township at 9:30 o'clock Monday morning, from the John Fox home at 9 o'clock. Rev. F. J. Hennessy conducted the services. Singing was by St. Francis choir. The pallbearers were Frank Aerts, Con Danaher, B. H. Eiting, Frank Eiting, James Kirby and Peter Vanderheiden. Burial was in St. Francis cemetery. Those in attendance at the funeral from elsewhere were Jerry Quaid and daughter Margaret, son Lawrence, and son-in-law Claude Dixon of Bloomington, Ill., and Donald Fox of Omaha. At time of his death Mr. Quaid was nearly 73 years of age. He was born May 19, 1865 at Troy, Ohio, coming to Butler county and being united in marriage to Bridget Fox in April, 1919 [sic]. They resided on a farm south of Center church for 19 years, moving to Omaha in 1910 where Mrs. Quaid passed away August 25, 1936. Mr. Quaid is survived by two brothers, Jerry and James, and one sister, Mrs. James Travers, of Bloomington, Ill. Mr. Quaid was for 18 years foreman for the Eggers O'Flynn Company, Omaha, being forced to retire 14 months ago on account of ill health. He was a kindly man, quiet in manner and highly respected, and had many friends. He was a devout member of St. Cecelia's Cathedral, Omaha, and the Holy Name society.
