Description	:	William R. Knippel William (Bill) was born on August 10, 1951 in Lincoln, NE. In 1964, Bill moved with his family to Tacoma and graduated from Franklin Pierce High School in 1969. During his senior year, Bill was the Washington State High School wrestling champion. Bill continued his wrestling career at the U.of Nebraska and the U. of Washington, where he graduated in 1974. Bill then moved to Portland, OR, where he was an avid handball player and was nationally ranked. Bill had a great love for the outdoors. He was active in the Mt. Bachelor Ski Patrol. Bill spent many... Read More	William R. Knippel William (Bill) was born on August 10, 1951 in Lincoln, NE. In 1964, Bill moved with his family to Tacoma and graduated from Franklin Pierce High School in 1969. During his senior year, Bill was the Washington State High School wrestling champion. Bill continued his wrestling career at the U.of Nebraska and the U. of Washington, where he graduated in 1974. Bill then moved to Portland, OR, where he was an avid handball player and was nationally ranked. Bill had a great love for the outdoors. He was active in the Mt. Bachelor Ski Patrol. Bill spent many years in Alaska as a commercial fisherman, where his love for sailing began. One of Bill's greatest ambitions was to take his sailboat, "Rebound", and sail the San Juan Islands. Bill was a gift to his family and was much loved by his family and friends. Bill resided in Seattle and passed away after a long illness. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Virginia Knippel, his grandparents, William and Anna Knippel, Frank and Bessie Cech, and Jerry Fiala, and his cousin Steve Fiala. Bill is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Knippel, his nieces Courtney Shelton and Laurie Ketter, his great-niece Leah Ketter, and his aunt and uncle, Lois and John Fiala. At Bill's request, there will be no public service. Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Bill's name.
