Hardy, of Fall River, Kansas; Mrs. Addie Coon (deceased); Archie R., of Aberdeen, Washington; Ross A., of Severy, Kansas; Mrs. Nellie Redding, of San Bernardino, Calif; Mrs. Martha L. Miller (deceased); and Charles M., of Rogers, Arkansas. Thirty years ago they came to Greenwood County, Kansas and this has been their home county up to six years ago when they moved to Rogers, Arkansas. His wife died March 6, 1919, and since that time he has made his home with his youngest son, Charles, of Rogers, Arkansas. His health has been poor for six months, Wednesday, April 8, 1925, he left Rogers, Arkansas, by auto for Joplin, MO. There he took the Frisco and reached Severy, Kansas on the 6:05 p.m. train. Having arrived in Severy, he went to the home of his niece Mrs. Edgar Hilyard. He had not felt well from 2 o'clock and did not eat any supper but spent the evening in visiting and evidently in good spirits. He retired at 9 o'clock. At about 10 o'clock a moan was heard in his room. By the time on could reach him, he was practically gone. It appeared that he had gone to sleep and that death had come upon him and he had passed away without a struggle. He had been subject to heart trouble for some time. Funeral services were held from the Congregational church in Severy, Kansas on Friday, April 10, 1925 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. F. A. Whittlesey, pastor of the Methodist church officated. His text was 2 Timothy 1:10, "Our Savior Jesus Christ, Who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immoratality to light through the gospel." "God Will Take of You," "In the Garden," and "Nearer My God to Thee," were sung. The interment was in the Cresco Cemetery, southwest of Severy, Kansas. The Odd Fellows had charge of the services at the grave. Mr. Jolly joined the Home Guards soon after coming to Kansas, in the early days amid the unsettled conditions which existed at the close of the Civil War. Mr. Jolly had many friends who will miss him and who sincerely sympathize with all his loved ones in their bereavement.
