Description	:	Former Kearney resident, 83 YANKTON, S.D. - William R. Taylor, 83, of Yankton, formerly of Kearney, Neb., died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, in Yankton. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Prairie Home Cemetery near Holdrege, Neb., with military honors by Offutt Air Force Base in conjunction with Martin Horn American Legion Post 66. Taylor II and Josh Taylor and his daughter, Kelsi Chesny. He received his education from Holdrege High School and went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska. William worked for the Holdrege REA until he joined the U.S. Air Force. After receiving his honorable discharge, William started his career with the Internal Revenue Service and made his home in California. He enjoyed attending auctions, solving "world affairs" over coffee with friends and spending time with family. He always had a great story to tell. Retirement brought him back to Nebraska to be near family. In April 2012, William moved to Yankton to be closer to his niece, Patty DeGroff, and her husband, Tom. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Bill Roberson; nephew, John Taylor; sister, Marjorie Roberson; brother, Jack Taylor; and sister-in-law, Alice Ann (Vandell) Taylor.
