Description	:	William (Bill) Ray Farlow, 80, resident of Archdale, died Monday, March 21, 2011, after a tragic accident. Bill Farlow was born on November 26, 1930 in Archdale, the son of the late Raymond and Ruth Jones Farlow. A lifelong resident of Archdale, he graduated from Trinity High School as well as Jones Business College. He was a veteran of the US Army Signal Corp. Bill was a member of Archdale Friends Meeting since 1956, where he served on the Board of Trustees, was active in Quaker Men and served as an usher. Bill Farlow was born on November 26, 1930 in Archdale, the son of the late Raymond and Ruth Jones Farlow. A lifelong resident of Archdale, he graduated from Trinity High School as well as Jones Business College. He was a veteran of the US Army Signal Corp. Bill was a member of Archdale Friends Meeting since 1956, where he served on the Board of Trustees, was active in Quaker Men and served as an usher. In 1964, he received the Jaycee Distinguished Service award. In 1965, he was a real estate broker, working with George Clements Realty for three years. He was honored as Citizen of the Year by the Archdale Trinity Lions Club in 1974, was an eye donor and encouraged family and friends to do the same. He served as past president of the Randolph County Farm Bureau where he served on the board for many years. Bill was a retired dairy farmer and served as past president of the NC Holstein Association. He served on the board of Planters Bank in Asheboro and Southeastern Savings and Loan. He served for eight years as a Randolph County Commissioner and was Chairman for four years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Farlow. On February 16, 1952 he married the former Barbara Russell who survives of the residence. Surviving are his children, Gary Farlow and wife Denise, Diane Farlow Johnson and husband Rick, and Steve Farlow; his grandchildren, Nick, Adam, Sarah Farlow, Jessi Johnson Green, Matt Johnson, Katie, and Neal Farlow; great-grandson, Skyler Farlow; two step-grandsons, and four step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Edna Farlow Jarrett, and mother-in-law, Margaret Russell. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be missed by many. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Archdale Friends Meeting, officiated by Reverend Ben Hurley and Reverend David Mercadante. Burial will follow at Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family will greet friends in the Family Life Center at Marlboro Friends Meeting following the burial. Memorials may be directed to the Bill Farlow Memorial Fund, C/O Archdale Friends Meeting, 114 Trindale Road, Archdale, NC 27263 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
