Description	:	Son of Lewis and Ladina Batterson, was born Dec. 25, 1874, near Unionville, Iowa, Appanoose County. He grew to manhood near the place of his birth and was united in marriage to Miss Mary Criddlebaugh Sept. 26, 1907. They set up housekeeping on a farm near the little town. Eight children were born to the family, six sons and two daughters, four sons dying in infancy (including Earl G.). Twenty-two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Batterson left the farm, moving to Albia, Iowa, residing at this place for six years, then moving to Rochester, Minn. They lived at this city for three years, thence to Joliet, Ill. After a few years residence here they moved to Buchanan, Mich. In January, 1937, the wife and mother passed away and the father and husband continued to make this city his home, until God called him home Thursday, Jan. 19, 1943. In death he is survived by the four children, three grandchildren, Donna Marie and Barbara Ann Batterson, and Ronald William Batterson, also brothers-in-law Pervis Criddlebaugh of Udell and Alva Criddlebaugh of Centerville, and sister-in-law Mrs. Elsie Ketchum of Dallas Center, Iowa. Shortly after moving to Albia, Mr. Batterson was converted and united with the United Brethren church, his membership remaining with this church until his death. At the time of his death he was 68 years and 25 days of age. Funeral services were held at Miller Funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by the Rev. Luther W. Childs. All four children being present. Interment in the Denny cemetery, Hiattsville, in the family lot.
