McLain, 88 Dies in Grinnell William, son of Robert J. and Sarah Swain McLain, was born in Scott Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa, Dec. 19, 1879, and passed away in a Grinnell Nursing Home on Dec. 1, 1968, at eighty-eight years of age. In his youth he attended rural school and Deep River High School. On March 2, 1905, he was united in marriage with Blanche Icenbice. To this union three children were born. McLain, 88 Dies in Grinnell William, son of Robert J. and Sarah Swain McLain, was born in Scott Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa, Dec. 19, 1879, and passed away in a Grinnell Nursing Home on Dec. 1, 1968, at eighty-eight years of age. In his youth he attended rural school and Deep River High School. On March 2, 1905, he was united in marriage with Blanche Icenbice. To this union three children were born. They farmed for about five years, then because of poor health, they moved to New Mexico and later to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where Mr. McLain worked as a motorman on the interuban railway for twenty-two years. In 1934, they returned to their farm northwest of Deep River, where they lived until they retired in 1946. Mr. McLain was preceded in death by his wife and their daughter, Neva Bryant (mdp). He is survived by his two sons, Forrest of Deep River, and Robert of Montezuma; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Leslie Elliott; other relatives and many friends. Services were Dec. 3 at Steffy Funeral Home, Montezuma with the Rev. James Seeber officiating. Casket Bearers were: Robert McLain, Dale Gorsch, William McLain, Don Gray, Darrell Goodlow and Wayne Gwin. Burial was at Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River.
