Oswald Funeral Services At Pleasant View Funeral services for William R. Oswald, 89, were held Monday afternoon at the Pleasant View church (sic) with Rev. Leo Thomas, pastor, officiating. Rev. and Mrs. Herbert Roszhart sang "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" and "Does Jesus Care." Their accompanist was Mrs. Maurice Kremer. Gerald Oswald, Richard Grosshans, Harris and Vance Ulmer and Donald Springer, all grandsons, and Dale Oswald, a nephew, served as casket bearers. Interment was made in the Aurora cemetery (sic). Higby Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Oswald died Friday at the Aurora Hospital. He had been seriously ill for about a week. The son of John K. and Verina Roth Oswald, he was born December 27, 1870, in Morton, Ill. As a young man he accepted Christ and was baptized into the Mennonite church. In 1888 the family moved from Morton, Ill., to a farm near Aurora. He farmed in this community until his retirement in 1933. On February 5, 1896, he married Barbara Springer. Two sons and two daughters were born. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Eda Springer, a brother, Joe, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Frienberger and Mrs. Emma Frienberger. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; his two sons, Raymond and Gilbert, both of Aurora; a daughter, Mrs. Esther Smith, Aurora; five brothers, Dan, John, Theodore, Aaron and Carl, all of Aurora; four sisters, Mrs. Joe Krabiel and Miss Lina Oswald, both of Aurora, Mrs. Katherine Slagle of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Ada Kepp of Pioneer, Ohio; six grandchildren, Donald Springer, Ashton, Ill., Gerald Oswald, Mason City; Ralph Oswald, with the air force in Abilene, Tex.; Elaine Ulmer, Lucille Ulmer, and Janet Grosshans, all of Aurora, and ten great grandchildren.
