He was born September 13, 1910 in Gold Creek to Montana pioneers William L. and Aletha Mahoney Briggeman, and lived on the family ranch near Gold Creek for most of his 86 years. "Willie" Briggeman, 86, a life long resident of Gold Creek, Montana, died of natural causes May 5, 1997, in Cheney, Washington. He was born September 13, 1910 in Gold Creek to Montana pioneers William L. and Aletha Mahoney Briggeman, and lived on the family ranch near Gold Creek for most of his 86 years. Willie attended the Gold Creek school and business school in Helena. During World War II, he was stationed at Camp McQuade, California, where he served in the Army Medical Corps. In 1943, his service to his country was cut short when he was called home to operate the family ranch upon the death of his father. He ranched on the family homestead on Carten Creek for nearly 50 years. Willie was a member of the Drummond American Legion Post and of the Deer Lodge BPOE. He is remembered as a hard working, kind and gentle man with a winning smile. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening. He never married. Survivors include his sister, Mary Frances Shreeve, Moscow, Idaho; a nephew Dr. William Shreeve, Cheney, Washington; niece Dr. Jeanine Shreeve, Moscow, Idaho; and by numerous cousins in the area. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Regina Briggeman. Cremation has taken place. At his request no funeral services will be held. Interment in the Hillcrest Cemetery will be Saturday, Mary 24, 1997.
