Funeral services for Mr. Broers were scheduled at the First Lutheran church at Manchester at 1:30 p.m. today (Tuesday), with the Rev. R. F. Gronewold officiating. Burial was made in the Spring Hill cemetery at Dundee. The Shelly funeral home was in charge of arrangements. William Broers, son of Thomas and Angela Hillers Broers, was born Oct. 15, 1887, in Germany. He grew to young manhood there and received his education in the schools of Germany. At age 16 he came to this country with a friend, and he worked as a farm hand in the Delaware vicinity. On June 10, 1914, he was united in marriage with Emma M. Grimm near Dundee, and following their marriage they farmed in the Dundee community until their retirement to Manchester in 1946. Mr. Broers was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church faithful in his attendance and active in the work of his church. He is survived by 4 daughters, Mrs. Raymond Perry of Waterloo, Mrs. Dale Bowden of Masonville, Mrs. William Harder of Delhi, and Mrs. Alvin Siems of Waterloo, and by 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Hillerich Broers of Germany, and one sister, Mrs. Fentje Wefer of Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 23, 1953, by one daughter in infancy and by his parents, one brother and two sisters. Contributor: Jeanette Johnson (48278241)
