License issued April 8. ====================== The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, April 24, 1952; pg. 1 DRUDIK - KOHMETSCHER A double ring ceremony united in marriage Miss Lois Drudik daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George A Drudik of Lawrence and William Kohmetscher son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Kohmetscher also of Lawrence, on Tuesday April 15th at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church Lawrence, Nebraska. Monsignor H.S. Haukap officiated at the exchange of the wedding vows and was celebrant of the Nuptial High Mass. The bride given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white slipper satin, trimmed with a sheer net yoke edged with pleated nylon net collar trimmed with rhinestones and pearls. The fitted bodice was closed in the back with tiny covered buttons and had long sleeves which tapered over the wrist. Rhinestones and medallion lace trimmed the skirt which fell Into an aisle wide train. Her fingertip veil fell from a crown of satin an (sic) pearls. She carried a boupuet (sic) of red carnations and orange blossoms tied with white ribbon streamers. Miss Patrica Drudik, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and wore a floor length gown of lilac taffeta with a net yoke ending in a bertha collar trimmed in matching lace. The full-hoop skirt was trimmed with lace inserts and fell from a fitted bodice. She wore matching mitts and band. Her colonial bouquet consisted of white carnations was tied with yellow ribbon. The grooms attendants were Robert Schreiner, cousin of the bride and his cousin, Elmer Kohmetscher. They and the groom wore light business suits with white carnation boutonneires (sic). The ushers were Reynold Kohmetscher and James Hofstetter. The mothers of the bride and groom wore dark blue dresses. Each wore a corsage of pink carnations. Following the church services a reception and three coarse dinner was served to 180 guest in the church parlor. The three tiered wedding cake which graced the bride's table was baked and decorated by the bride's cousin, Mrs. Bernard Svoboda. Mss (sic) Phyllis Rempe was in charge of the guest book and wedding gifts. In the evening the bridal couple entertained their relatives and many friends at a dance in the Legion Hall, with the Harmony Knights playing. Mr. and Mrs. Kohmetscher left on a honeymoon trip to Colorado, after which they will be at home on a farm 5 miles southwest of Lawrence. Out of town guests were from Hiawatha Kansas, Billings Montana, Greeley Colorado, Fairfield, Bostwick, Benklemen, Hastings, Bartley, Indianola, Blue Hill, Guide Rock, Glenvil, Deweese, Falls City, Nebraska City, and Nelson Nebraska. ======================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday October 29, 2009; pg. 5 Lawrence area native and long time area resident, Mr. William (Bill) Thomas Kohmetscher passed away Monday, October 19, 2009 in Hastings. The death followed a number of years of poor health for Mr. Kohmetscher. The Mass of Christian burial was Friday, October 23, 2009, at St. Michael's Catholic church (sic) in Hastings. Fathers Michael Houlihan and Bernie Kimminau and Msgr. Ivan G. Vap officiated at the Mass and conducted graveside service. Assisting at the services were Kay Hoffman as organist and the church choir. Daughter-in-law, Laurie Kohmetscher and granddaughter, Kristin Kohmetscher sang the Offertory song. Burial was in the Sacred Heart parish cemetery east of Lawrence. Pallbearers were grandsons: Daniel Kohmetscher, Justin Kohmetscher, Marc Kohmetscher, Tyler Kohmetscher, Reed Kohmetscher, Jeff Kohmetscher, Rustin Kohmetscher, Shane Kohmetscher and Brandon Kohmetscher. Honorary Pall Bearers were granddaughters: Nicole Kohmetscher, Kristin Kohmetscher, Melissa Tolen, Danielle Smith, Nicole Weaver, Rachel Kohmetscher, Lindsay Lorraine, Halee Kohmetscher, Lacey Rath, Elizabeth Kohmetscher, Allissa Kohmetscher. William Thomas (Bill) Kohmetscher was born August 26, 1929 in Webster County, Nebraska to Anthony and Regina (Reining) Kohmetscher. He graduated from Lawrence High School. On April 15, 1952 Bill married Lois Drudik in Lawrence. The couple farmed near Lawrence and Bill worked as a rural mail carrier, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic church (sic), the Rural Letter Carriers Association and the NARFE. They moved to Hastings in 1989. Mr. Kohmetscher was an active member of the community, holding positions at the Co-op, Glenwood Telephone corp., the Lawrence County Club and Sacred Heart church (sic). His retirement years were filled with golfing, enjoying his grandchildren and great grandkids and helping on the farm. Bill's passion was farming and Nebraska football. His smile, laugh and willingness to help will leave a void in the lives of the people that knew him. William was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Reynold Kohmetscher, LaVern Kohmetscher, and Harold Kohmetscher; granddaughter, Nicole Lynn Kohmetscher; great-granddaughters, Lillian Grace Kohmetscher and Parker Isabelle Tolen; and a great-grandson, Avery Daniel Lorraine. He is survived by his wife: Lois of Hastings; sons and daughters-in-law: Eugene and Suzanne Kohmetscher of Lincoln; James Kohmetscher of Lincoln; Ronald and Nancy Kohmetscher of Hastings; Edward Kohmetscher of Axtell; Darrell and Lori Kohmetscher of Lincoln; Duane and Laurie Kohmetscher of Lawrence; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
