Description	:	Dear Mrs. Clifford I received a letter a week ago from you asking some information about Mr. Davis' Co. and Reg. or anything I knew about it. Mr Davis volunteered in April '61, joined Co. E. 5th Regt. served as color bearer 8 months, then was changed to Co. H 5th Regt. He was under Capt. Glenn I think first then under Capt. Steadman as Corporal. He was in Col. Jenkins Regt. till he was promoted to Brigadier Gen., Longstreets Corps. He was wounded in the arm on May 3rd, 1862. I have forgotten the battle, then in 1864 was wounded... I have forgotten the battle, then in 1864 was wounded in the hip which wound finally killed him. His Regt. was in the surrender it was 15 hard fought battles that I can remember, Bulls Run, First and Second Manassas; Fredericksburg; Seven Pines; Deep Bottom; Seven Days around Richmond; Sharpsburg; Cold Harbour; Lookout Mountain; Chickamauga; Peterburg; Spotsylvania; C. H. Wilderness Appamattocks and Chancelersville. It seems like there was more but I can't remember them. They was in everone that Longstreet Corps was in and he called them his Blood Hounds I can't remember how the battles comes in nor their dates. Capt Tiar (?) is the only man living that I know that went when he did and went out when he did. If I could see you and talk these things over I might remember more.
