He was not shown as returning to the US with them at the end of the War. A Signal Corps photo showed him with members of Battery 'D' on Nov. 30, 1944 (before the 'Battle of the Bulge') From his military grave plaque, it appears that he transferred (or was transferred) to the infantry in late 1944, when the 95th Inf. Div., 379th Inf. Regt. was stationed near Metz, France. They were known as the 'Iron Men of Metz'...The 455th AAA was also in this area. During the Battle of the Bulge, some 70 men were transferred to infantry units from the 455th AAA.
