At the time of his death, William Baker owned and lived on a farm on the SE1/4 of Sec. 20, Twp. 23N, Range 8W, with his then pregnant wife and infant son. He immediately started for the locality, which was five miles southwest of that town, and impanelled a jury. From the evidence the following facts were learned. William T. Baker, an old resident of the country, has been complaining of sickness for some time. Sunday afternoon he was missed and after a time search was instituted. About eleven o'clock at night he was found in a pasture sitting beneath a tree. His position and appearance were so natural that at first it was thought he was merely resting but an examination showed he was dead. Apparently death came suddenly and without pain. After a thorough investigation the jury arrived at the verdict that death resulted from heart disease. Mr. Baker had been married three times, and the family remaining consists of a wife and infant child and several children mostly grown up. He was a member of the G.A.R. and that society took charge of the funeral which was held Tuesday, the sermon being preached by C. D. Thompson of this place."
