Description	:	Crossville Chronicle March 18, 1937 W Vance Burgess, born October 23, 1881, died March 9, 1937 at his home at Biglick. All that loved ones and friends could do was done, with Dr Buttram in attendance. He had been in poor health for some time but did not seem in a serious condition and was able to be with his father, W K Burgess, before he died and was at his funeral. Read More	Crossville Chronicle March 18, 1937 W Vance Burgess, born October 23, 1881, died March 9, 1937 at his home at Biglick. All that loved ones and friends could do was done, with Dr Buttram in attendance. He had been in poor health for some time but did not seem in a serious condition and was able to be with his father, W K Burgess, before he died and was at his funeral. He was stricken with pneumonia and also suffered from stomach ulcers. He was an active member of the Presbyterian church, becoming a member October 23, 1921, being one of the original members upon its organization here, being first a deacon and 4 years later, July 5, 1925, he was elected and ordained an elder, the highest office and honor which our church can bestow. For many years he had been church treasurer, giving of his zest to the work which he loved. For many years he was superintendent of our Sunday school. His services in our church will be sadly missed. He was married April 7, 1907 to Miss Amy Sevier and to this union were born 6 children: Violet, Estelle, Eucle, Alberta, Letha and Marvin, all of whom survive. He also leaves 3 sisters and 1 brother: Mrs Sarah Cole, Sparta; Mrs Alice Swafford, Biglick; Mrs Anna Mooneyham, Pikeville and Henry Burgess, Winesap.
