Annis, 35, of Ottumwa route 8, died at his home at 7 a.m. today. The son of Hiram and Annie Annis, he was born in Putnam county, Mo. [sic], February 29, 1912. He came to Wapello county in 1917 and had lived here since. He was an employe of the Blunk Construction Co., as a truck driver. Survivors are his wife, Violet, two daughters, Anna and Lois at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Annis of Ottumwa; a brother, Raleigh Annis, Ottumwa; three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Hartley, Belknap, route 1; Mrs. Irene George, East Moline, Ill., Mrs. Gladys Hartley, Spokane, Wash. He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter and one sister. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel. “ANNIS FUNERAL,” From “Ottumwa Courier,” July 12, 1947: Funeral arrangements for William V. Annis, Ottumwa route 8, who died at his home Friday morning, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. Roscoe Morrison of the Harding Park Open Bible church will be in charge and burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The casket will be taken to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Annis, 1005 Harding street, today and returned to the chapel Monday morning. Pallbearers will be Clay Dixon, Eugene Gallup, Greyden Morrow, Merrill Adams, James Kelley and William Tennison.
